Tell us a bit about yourself and your background?
I moved to Leeds 5 years ago to study journalism, then took a break and went off to America to play football for a while. I came back to Leeds after 6 months to finish my degree and then went on to do a master’s in advertising, which is how I got into media. I’ve now been here at All Response Media Leeds for a year and a half.
How did you come across All Response Media?
I had accepted a job in a place in Sheffield working in SEO, however, a couple of weeks before I was due to start a recruiter contacted me and asked if I wanted to come for an interview here. They offered me the job more or less straight away. I really liked the office and the atmosphere when I came in and it felt right so I took this job instead. I started out as a Media Executive and now I’m a Senior Media Executive.
What’s a typical day like for you as Senior Media Executive?
No day is really the same, I’m mostly managing client’s expectations and looking at how to go above and beyond the norm of what they require. I would say day to day I’m mostly in constant contact with clients and sales houses.
What’s your favourite thing about your role?
The freedom to express my thoughts and ideas. In previous roles, I’ve felt I didn’t get as much responsibility or say in what went on. I really appreciate that my opinion matters and can influence things here.
What’s your favourite thing about working at All Response Media?
You’re encouraged to multi-task and to challenge yourself quite early on. You’re forced to step up which I think is good and it means you expand your skills instantly – especially in this industry – I feel All Response Media leaves a stamp on everyone that works here as you really do learn a lot quite quickly.
What’s your most memorable moment at All Response Media so far?
I think when I was first asked to do a presentation in front of the office. One director took a shine to me early on and asked me to coordinate it even though I hadn’t been here very long yet. It was nice to have that reinforcement and validation, which was a big plus for me at an early stage.
If you could work in any other department or team across all the other offices, which one would it be and why?
It would probably be Marketing, I think it would be interesting to experience what the marketing team does on a day to day basis and branch out in other areas of the company. Also, my background is in advertising and marketing.
If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three things would you have and why?
My dog, beer and a good book.
Do you have any hidden talents or facts not many people know about you?
I play Gaelic football, which is a combination of rugby and football, so there’s full contact, and has a variety of normal football and Australian rules – it’s good fun.
If you could compare yourself to any animal which would it be and why?
A meercat – I’m quite nosy.
What’s your favourite thing to do in Leeds in your spare time?
Play football and go walking with my dog.
