Tell us a bit about yourself and your background?
I’m from Leeds. I didn’t go to University; I got a contracting placement at Google for 2.5 years as a Service Product Specialist before moving to the Google AdWords department where I supported small to medium businesses with the set up of their AdWords accounts. That was how I got into where I am today.
How did you come across All Response Media?
I wanted to experience agency side to gain more exposure to different types of media. I got approached by a recruiter while I was looking and came for the interview at All Response Media, then ended up starting the following week. I’ve now been here two years, first starting out as a Digital Media Executive and now I’m a Digital Planner.
What’s a typical day like for you as Digital Planner?
I’ll first check through all my emails and check on the performance of all my clients – currently, I have 7 clients – and look at how yesterday’s performance was and where we are for the month. I’ll then prioritise what needs to go out that particular day and make a list of what’s due first and work through it. On top of that, I’ll balance any media owners that come in and any calls I get.
What’s your favourite thing about your job?
I like planning – I like being able to come up with opportunities and ways to test it. I also enjoy being part of the new business that comes in, which I’ve become more involved in now. I really get on with the people I work with, I think we’re a strong digital team and I enjoy teaching people and helping them learn more.
What’s your favourite thing about working at All Response Media?
Definitely the people, the office is really social. I also enjoy learning about new media – there are a lot of media owners that come in and it’s great to get that exposure. The away days and Christmas parties are also always fun – there’s always lots going on which I like.
What’s your favourite thing about the Leeds team?
It’s a small team and we’re all really close. Everyone’s so friendly and really go above and beyond in their work.
What’s your most memorable moment at All Response Media so far?
The Easter egg hunt we had last year – the whole office building got involved, including other agencies and it became a big hunt and was super competitive. In the end, we won and got a Hotel Chocolat hamper as a prize! Everyone was so pleased about it. That was a good day and we were proud that the best agency won.
If you could work in any other department or team across all the other offices, which one would it be and why?
Either the social team or the tech ops team. Tech ops because I’m interested in tagging and attribution, and the social team because I think social is really fun and there are lots of experimental things to do. I also think getting to visit Facebook and Instagram offices would be exciting.
If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three things would you have with you and why?
My phone – who can live without a phone nowadays? Chocolate because I just love chocolate, and my dog, because I prefer him to any person.
If you could compare yourself to any animal which would it be and why?
Probably a turtle because I like to come out of my shell when I want to and then go back in.
What’s something not many people know about you?
When I was younger, I went to drama school and ending up being extra on Emmerdale.
What’s your favourite thing to do in Leeds in your spare time?
I like going for hikes, especially in the Yorkshire Dales. It’s really beautiful and picturesque there.
